The kiss between two men heard around the world.
Rhythm City is a South African based “soapie” that examines the lives of characters in the music business. Zenzo Ngqobe, an acclaimed actor in such films as “Blood Diamond” and the beautifully shot “Tsotsi”, plays a gay man (Stone) on the show. Recently Stone locked lips with Thula (played by Wright Nguben) after a heated discussion about homosexuality.
Not really that into soap operas, but the fact that Rythym City features a prominent gay character of color with depth and complexity is to be commended (‘bout time soaps!). And it seems that the dialogue sparked from this one episode surrounding LGBT issues, sexuality, and HIV is getting folks talking.
We can’t watch the show in the states, but check out the show’s facebook HERE to see more about the show and fan comments.
