“If we cannot imagine a court where every justice is a gay, woman-of-color then we do not yet really believe that black, brown, gay, and women citizens are truly, fully citizens. Our belief in the validity of white, male courts is centered in our understanding of white men as appropriate political decision makers. A truly inclusive democracy must push that understanding to include all citizens as equally capable of full participation.”
